ABOUT FORGET ME NOT
Prequel to Bleeding Heart
Old hurts, new betrayals, and a love that survives them all…
A startling revelation sends Elizabeth Lawson escaping into a stormy night – and tosses her into the arms of a young mountain man with secrets of his own. When he offers to take her to the Nevada mining town where her long-lost brother lives, she accepts. Suspicions and uncertainties are pushed aside as she struggles to forge a future for herself by meeting her past.
David has been hiding from his painful memories for years. The solitude and wildness of the Rocky Mountains are challenge and comfort enough for him – until Elizabeth’s arrival. Fueled by anger and a sense of obligation, he strives to take control of his new situation…only to find control slipping from his grasp with each new emotion Elizabeth evokes in him.
When their journey leads them on unexpected paths, can two lonely hearts find the strength to remember the good amid the heartbreak?
Inspirational Historical Romance

In Forget Me Not, which is the prequel to Amber’s debut novel, Bleeding Hearts, David saves Elizabeth from a rushing Colorado creek and helps her travel to Nevada to find her brother. Their journey is a realistic tale of trials encountered along the way. Arriving in Virginia City, she learns about her brother and this leads to involvements which test the love developing between David and Elizabeth.
Amber writes intriguing stories which have the feel of western sagas. Recurring characters add to the delightful epic quality of her stories. There will be a third book in “The Heart’s Spring” series, Morning Glory, which will feature the much-loved Myghal. If you like Christian western romance with engaging characters struggling with realistic emotional issues, you will want to read Forget Me Not by Amber Stokes. I suggest reading Forget Me Not before Bleeding Hearts, but each book does provide a satisfying story and conclusion. I’m really looking forward to Amber’s next tale about Myghal, a Cornish miner. Amber creates characters who come alive in your heart.
My favorite take-away passage from Forget Me Not: “Should we ever forget those we’ve loved? Maybe our paths will never cross with them again, but can’t we still be grateful for the depth they added to our lives?” She shrugged. “Surely God allowed us to love them for a reason. Right?”
Please be sure to check “The Heart’s Spring” website (http://theheartsspringseries.blogspot.com/) because Amber is offering a free short story, Bellflower, with details on that site!

Thank you so much for your lovely review, Sherida! I’m really honored you picked up a copy of the book and read it in time for the blog tour. 😀
And that passage you picked – oh, that’s one that’s near and dear to my heart. Very much an outpouring of my own fears and hopes and emotions. ♥ I’m touched to know it was your favorite!
Thanks for stopping by, Amber, and for providing the tea and “sugary cakes” from Forget Me Not. 🙂 It’s interesting to learn that particular passage is dear to you. God has our paths cross with different people for a reason. We wait to learn why as we go through life. It’s been fun for me to reconnect with friends I’d lost contact with and for the many new friends I’ve discovered along the way. Again, I’m anxious to read more of your Heart’s Spring series!
Hi Sherida, What a great review and I’m with you. I have enjoyed Amber’s style of writing and I love her setting since I grew up in the Lake Tahoe area. I find her characters engaging and like you enjoy reading more about them. I’m looking forward to Morning Glory also.
Thanks for visiting, Sandra! After reading Amber’s books, I want to visit Lake Tahoe and Virginia City. I’ve visited and lived in a number of places in the West, but haven’t been to those two places. Fun to see you here! Thanks!
Sherida, what an interesting review. I can’t wait to find out who or what makes Elizabeth escape during a dark stormy night!
Amber, your covers for the series are wonderful! I liked Bellflower’s cover too. Can’t wait to read it!
Hi CP Donna! So glad you could stop in for a cup of tea….and the sugary cakes! Yes, I can get lost in Amber’s enchanting covers which reflect the stories so perfectly. Hope you get a chance to read Bellflower soon. Things have been so hectic here that I haven’t read the story of Annabelle and Jacob yet…and I want time to savor it! Also I plan to get caught up with our class! 🙂 Thank you for stopping by for a visit! See you in class…..
Sandra: I so appreciate your kind support! While I’ve lived my whole life on the North Coast of California (besides the time I spent at college in Oregon), I’ve been to the Virginia City region multiple times and love it. 🙂 Knowing you grew up in the Lake Tahoe area makes your enjoyment of my books that much more of an honor! Thank you. 🙂
Sherida: Happy to share – I’m sure Elizabeth and Sarah Anne would love to join us. 😉 Oh, you should definitely visit Virginia City if you get the chance! And of course, Lake Tahoe is gorgeous. The history in that area is so fascinating to me. Thank you once again for hosting me and encouraging me!
Donna: I love the covers, too – my cover designer, Lena Goldfinch, is so talented and wonderful to work with! 🙂 I hope you enjoy Forget Me Not when you get a chance to read it! And if you’re willing to sign up for my newsletter (I only plan on sending it our quarterly), be sure to e-mail me at amberstokes[at]corban[dot]edu to request your free e-copy of Bellflower. 😀 (If you’ve already sent me an e-mail, forgive me for being repetitive!)
